Yes. Yes. YES.
Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman. Con te partiro. Time to Say Goodbye.
Your 20’s are your ‘selfish’ years. It’s a decade to immerse yourself in every single thing possible. Be selfish with your time, and all the aspects of you. Tinker with shit, travel, explore, love a lot, love a little, and never touch the ground.
Kyoko Escamilla (via youbroketheinternet)
I really appreciate the application of the quotes around the word selfish. There’s nothing truly selfish about living your life for you, for your growth and your experiences. You only become selfish when you are reckless with other people’s feelings and ignorant of how your choices affect others.
Our 20s aren’t about finding the perfect job, the perfect life partner, the perfect apartment and path in life. Our 20s are about trial and error, about brushing the dirt off our knees when we fall down, just like when we were actually children.
We’re entering into adulthood with a world of pressures and expectations. They come from our parents, the global economy, our friends, our schools and their fancy degrees, and the expectations we created for ourselves along the way. But no one needs to know everything right now. All you need to know is that now is your time to “tinker with shit”, to try new things, to allow your resume to be as varied and unfocused as a goldfish’s attention span. See what you’re best at; see what you’re not. In the future you can have plans, but right now, we have the luxury of creating a foundation, not cementing ourselves into one for the next 60 years.
YOLO, biddies.

Brené Brown’s TED talk, “The Power of Vulnerability”. Watched this one twice (once with French subtitles for fun…). Listen, Enjoy (she’s funny!), Reflect, Internalize, Share.
A series of “Impossible Conversations” between Schiaparelli and Prada in celebration of their shared exhibit at the Met. Thank you, Met’s Costume Institute Gala! So very glad to live in NYC.
These conversations are epic, impactful, insightful, and challenge the opinions of those who underestimate the brilliance of the minds behind fashion and design. Thank you, Schiaparelli and Prada, for what you’ve done for women’s fashion.
This time last year, the event was on the mind-blowing McQueen exhibit that was at the Met. Unfamiliar? Check out my bare-minimum post on it last May. The post is sparse because there was nothing I could say besides “GO”. Hope some of you made it!

Don’t worry about it, my child. Tell yourself that you are experiencing a true love story. But of course. Have you ever seen anyone write a poem about the woman he married and who yells at him four times a day? Do you think that if Romeo and Juliet had had six children together, there would have been a book about them? You’re suffering! That’s why you’re playing so well now. The love that you feel for this woman will translate into your music. She will be in every note that you play. […] Now return to your home in Tehran […] I have nothing more to teach you.
